Get ready for Nvidia "PASCAL" series graphics cards

Nvidia is ready to announce its Maxwell-based "Pascal" graphics cards at Computex 2016 from May 31 to June 4, with Asustek, Gigabyte and MSI etc. showcasing their reference board products. The graphics card players will begin shipping their Pascal GPUs in July, the sources noted.

Nvidia has already begun to wipe stocks of its existing cards to get ready for the next-generation cards. The GPU market continues to see weak demand in the first half. In 2k15, worldwide graphics card shipments dropped below 30 million units because of low demand and quick exchange rate fluctuations, which caused demand from Russia and Latin America to drop quickly. However, with increasing demand from the gaming market, the sources expects high-end graphics card to see powerful performance, helping worldwide GPU shipments to stay flat on year in current year.

Meanwhile, AMD has prepared "Polaris" based GPUs to compete against Pascal of Nvidia; however, the GPUs will be released later than Pascal and therefore the graphics card players' third-quarter performance will mainly be driven by demand for their Nvidia products.
